Geap up like: Michael Barry
Road biker Michael Barry likes to keep things simple
When you log a couple of hundred K on your training rides to prep for multi-week tours, you can’t just walk home if something goes wrong with your bike. But you don’t want to weigh yourself down with too much gear either. So besides some water, food and sometimes a vest and arm warmers, Olympian and High Road team rider Michael Barry packs just what he needs in an emergency: identification (try Road ID bracelets, roadid.com), a mobile phone, some money and a spare tube or two. “The ID is in case I get hit by a car or crash and am unconscious, and my family needs to be contacted. The rest is to get me home in case I run into any problems,” he says.
