We’ve gathered our favourite ski resorts to visit in Ontario, not only for the best slopes, but also for ambiance and experience. From nightlife to relaxation (and of course shredding), if you choose any of these 10 spots you’re guaranteed a good run. Ontario may not have many mountains, but it has enough hills to keep us busy throughout the winter season. Surrounded by Great Lakes means ample snow and open runs from late November all the way through March.

Blue Mountain Resort

Have you even visited Ontario in the winter if you haven’t been to Blue Mountain Resort? With some of the best slopes in the province, Blue Mountain is known for being the ski town. Watch as the mountain village illuminates at night, enjoy horse-drawn sleigh rides and race along the Ridge Runner Mountain Coaster at speeds up to 42 kilometres per hour. Visiting Blue Mountain isn’t just about the skiing; this is a one-of-a-kind experience.

Glen Eden Ski Resort

Glen Eden Ski Resort is where all of the seasonal action happens, especially at the terrain park. It’s one of the largest ones around and can help turn a good skier into a pro. Feel free to let loose and try something that scares you! Glen Eden provides a safe environment for you to jump rails, ranging from small ride features to double kink hand rails.

Horseshoe Resort

Conveniently located 121 kilometres north of Toronto, Horseshoe Resort offers four times the powder this year with new snow guns. Adventure-seekers and beginner families will have fun skiing, snowboarding, fat biking, snowshoeing, skating and tubing.

Shred all day and relax all night. Calabogie Peaks Resort gives you an awesome ski experience near Ottawa. Who doesn’t love a good challenge at the tallest mountain resort in Eastern Ontario? Their après-ski makes the effort worth it with a pub and lounge to warm up in.

Mount St. Louis Moonstone Resort

Founded in 1964, Mount St. Louis Moonstone Resort is one of the largest family owned ski resorts in Ontario. Get there early to start the season off right with terrain for both the advanced and the beginner skier in your group. You’ll find 36 slopes, nine chairlifts and three carpets to enjoy.

Join the ski community at Ski Snow Valley near Barrie. The 21-run ski resort has been in operation since 1952. With seasonal events like “Under the Stars Snowshoe & Yoga” and “Chili Cookouts,” you won’t be among strangers for long. Come alone and make new friends or bring your entire friend group to add to the fun. They even have group rates to keep the cost of fun low.

Mount Pakenham

Take in the natural beauty found at Mount Pakenham, just over 60 kilometres from Ottawa. They’re famous for having great conditions and lots of snow all season long, so you never have to worry when you’re picking your weekend getaway. Couples, don’t miss two-for-one lift and rental Date Nights on Tuesdays and Saturdays throughout the 2018/2019 season.

 

Hidden Valley Highlands Ski Area

Huntsville

Known for being a “hidden gem” in the region, Hidden Valley Highlands Ski Area brings you to the best snow in Southern Ontario. This Muskoka ski spot has been providing family fun on winter-themed adventures since 1965. Make it a one-time stop or join their Muskoka Ski Club to bond with other friendly skiers for life.

Loch Lomond Ski Area

Thunder Bay

Loch Lomond Ski Area has 17 runs with 30 per cent rated beginner, 35 per cent intermediate and 35 per cent advanced. A new snow gun guarantees the half-pipe will stay snowed in. Ski your heart out and then sit back for some tubing down the hills with great abandon.
