Park Ranger for BC Parks

As a ranger, your job is to keep parks safe, clean and accessible, including maintaining trails, campsites and facilities like toilets and boardwalks, managing visitors and enforcing park regulations. You’ll monitor natural and cultural resources, respond to emergencies and sometimes supervise teams or coordinate with contractors on special projects. Park rangers also assist in conservation tasks like mapping, surveying and maintaining relationships with Indigenous communities across all six regions of the province including the West Coast, South Coast, Thompson Cariboo, Kootenay Okanagan, North Coast Skeena and Omineca Peace. To qualify, you’ll need a related degree or a two-year diploma in fields such as Outdoor Recreation Management or Natural Resource Management, or a secondary school graduation with two years of related experience. Preference may be given to candidates with experience in areas such as safely managing human-wildlife conflict, operating boats and other watercraft or using equipment like satellite phones and GPS devices. Expect to work 35 hours a week, including evenings and weekends, and be ready for all kinds of weather and environments including overnight stays in tents and remote cabins.

Resource Conservation for Kouchibouguac National Park

Parks Canada is hiring for a Resource Conservation role at Kouchibouguac National Park in New Brunswick, perfect for post-secondary students enrolled in environmental, life sciences or other related programs. As part of the Resource Conservation team, you’ll play a key role in protecting this ecosystem of salt marshes, sandy beaches and lush forests, home to diverse wildlife such as endangered piping plovers, grey seals and hundreds of bird species. From May to early September 2025, you’ll work 37 to 40 hours a week, gaining hands-on experience in monitoring ecological species, preventing human-wildlife conflicts, conducting research and managing field data alongside ecologists and technicians.

Prince Edward Island National Park is hiring for four exciting summer positions, each offering a different way to contribute to the park’s operations and visitor experiences. While Park Communicators welcome visitors, provide essential information about the park and manage revenue collection, Janitorial Students join the Visitor Experience Team to ensure facilities are clean and welcoming by completing hands-on work like litter collection, wood stacking and grass cutting. Heritage Communicators share the stories of Prince Edward Island National Park and nearby historic sites through engaging programs and visitor interactions. The Anne-Imitator at Green Gables Heritage Place brings Anne Shirley, the red-haired protagonist of Anne of Green Gables, to life. In full costume, you’ll engage with visitors, pose for photos and participate in activities like old-fashioned games and ice cream making.

Student Biological Field Assistant in Cape Breton Highlands National Park

Open to full-time or part-time students and those in adult education programs, this role invites you to explore the park’s stunning landscapes while helping monitor its ecosystem health and protect species at risk. You’ll assist with forest, aquatic and vegetation surveys, record biological data and help maintain field equipment. Tasks also include controlling invasive species and contributing to restoration efforts. This hands-on experience is ideal for someone with a basic knowledge of local flora and fauna as well as wilderness travel and an interest in conservation. Expect to work in remote areas, developing practical skills while learning about human-wildlife coexistence with animals like moose and coyotes.
