LOWA’s classic hiking boot, the Renegade, is still kicking after 25 years. Since the boot was launched in 1997, more than 12 million pairs have been sold, making it LOWA’s best-selling outdoor boot internationally. How’s that for proof of concept?

The entire boot is made and sourced in Europe. Fun fact: it takes 190 pieces to build a single pair of Renegades. Shock-absorbing midsoles and cushioning insoles ensure an enjoyable walk, whether on dirt, gravel or pavement. The heel profile helps keep your foot locked in on steep descents, while the Vibram® Evo rubber outsole prevents slipping and offers extra traction on tricky sections of the trail.

The Renegade GTX Mid is available in both men’s and women’s styles. The men’s version is available in sizes 7.5 to 15, with half-sizes up to 11.5. Colour options include shades of brown, black and blue. In comparison, the women’s version starts at size 5.5 and is offered up to size 11, with all half-sizes available. From our experience, fit is true to size. Colour options include red, beige, blue and black. Leather-lined, wide and low-cut versions are also available.

This boot is best suited for day hikes, walks and everyday outings when you could use extra traction and stability. Weighing only 1,110 grams per pair, these could be used for longer adventures, though they are not specifically created for multi-day hikes. Combined with a deep lug pattern, comfortable ankle collar and waterproof overlay, this boot will go wherever your day-to-day adventures take you.
