Looking to improve your leadership skills while also strengthening your climbing abilities? Applications are now being taken for The North Face-Alpine Club of Canada Summer Leadership Course. The 8-day course is part of the ACC’s 2012 General Mountaineering Camp, located in the Sir Sandford area of the Selkirk Mountains, B.C.
The Alpine Club of Canada is Canada’s national mountain organization and consists of regional club sections located across Canada. In addition to its General Mountaineering Camp and leadership programs, the club offer members a variety of mountaineering activities year-round.
The summer leadership training course, sponsored by The North Face, is open to ACC members from across the country. It will focus on strengthening leadership skills while enhancing participants’ capabilities in all aspects of mountaineering, including rope handling, route planning, rescue systems and emergency situation management. Each day’s activities will combine practical skill application with participation in group discussions and presentations. The goal of the course is to create strong leaders for the ACC who can then facilitate safe activities for their own section.
Applicants will be chosen based on references, an endorsement, and their current level of basic technical skills and abilities. The deadline to apply is May 15, 2012.
