Arc’teryx will be producing the Arc’teryx Climbing Academy for the second consecutive year, scheduled to be held from July 14 to 17, 2016 in Squamish, British Columbia.

Once again, the popular climbing event expects to draw hundreds of climbing enthusiasts, mountain guides and professional athletes from around the world to scale legendary Squamish routes; all while providing attendees with top-notch educational clinics and seminars, keynote speakers, a climbing trade fair, live music and more.

Along with an expanded list of of new clinics for 2016, the Arc’teryx Climbing Academy will include educational seminars and keynote talks from some of the sports greatest legends, including Peter Croft, Kate Rutherford and Dave Allfrey. Croft, one of the foremost climbers of our time, cemented his place in climbing history with an impressive list of first ascents, free solos, and noteworthy traverses and climbs, including the first free solo of Astroman V 5.11 and the Rostrum V 5.11 in Yosemite.

Expanding the new clinics to encompass more advanced climbing techniques, Croft, alongside Rutherford and Allfrey, will demonstrate their experience with the latest rope soloing, big wall and offwidth climbing techniques. Top-tier Arc’teryx athletes Will Gadd, Jonathan Siegrist, Will Stanhope and Ines Papert will also be on hand to share their strengths in certain disciplines while providing additional instruction for some of last year’s most popular clinics.

Another update to the 2016 Climbing Academy includes hosting the Kick-off Welcome Party a day earlier on Thursday evening taking place in downtown Squamish at the pavilion park.

For each of the following days, all of the post-clinic events, keynote speakers and music will be held in the expansive views and open air of Squamish’s Sea to Sky Gondola summit—free for gondola pass holders. Discounted Sea to Sky Gondola passes are also available for those not participating in the climbing clinics but want to take in the music and wisdom of the keynote speakers.

“We’re excited to host such a strong lineup of legendary climbers at this year’s Climbing Academy,” said Justin Sweeny, North American Sports Marketing Manager. “With their assistance, the new clinics have been expanded to include some more advanced techniques, we’ve been able to add more spots to some of last year’s most popular clinics, and the keynote speaker series is shaping up to be the best ever. It’s going to be an action packed climbing event and we’re hoping all greater Vancouver climbing communities join us in Squamish for a great weekend of climbing and camaraderie.”
