Jim Baird

Jim Baird is a Canadian professional adventurer and filmmaker based in Northern Ontario. His work for Explore Magazine centers on remote, solo expeditions, including whitewater paddling journeys in Canada’s North and Arctic winter treks. These self-powered trips focus on remote travel, resilience and extended time in wild places.

Alongside his editorial work, Jim documents his large-scale river trips along with his broader outdoor lifestyle through his Jim Baird Adventurer YouTube channel. His films chronicle off-grid and rural living, family-based expeditions, and backcountry travel by canoe, on foot, and by snowmobile, offering raw, first-hand storytelling grounded in lived experience.

Jim has appeared on Season 4 the self-shot survival series of Alone and stars in the four-part National Geographic series Home in the Wild, which follows adventures undertaken with his family.
