Julia Buckle

Julia grew up in upstate New York, but her family is from Newfoundland and Labrador. She now lives in Montreal as a McGill student and artist in her spare time. Her upbringing cultivated a lasting appreciation for the beauty of the outdoors and interest in the connection of people to their environment. Art has always been central to her life and a way to explore and express the intricacies of growing up. While her primary mediums are drawing and painting, in the last few years she's found it quite natural to expand into photography. Her art has always tried to capture the beauty within the ordinary, and her pictures are no different.

While still experimenting with photography to find her own style, she gravitates towards candid portrait and traditional landscape photography, influenced by her father’s and grandfather’s own photos. Her aim is to capture people and places simply as they exist, in the moment—a visual journal of her experiences over time.
