Oleksandra Budna

Oleksandra grew up in Ukraine and now lives in Toronto, Treaty 13 territory, with her family. Love of nature drives her outdoor pursuits as she gets to know incredible landscapes across Turtle Island, on foot and in a canoe. She tries to capture the beauty of these lands and waters in her photography and writing. Her work mainly explores the themes of connection to the land, the joys and pains of being human and searching for magic and beauty in the ordinary.

Her essays have appeared in The Globe and Mail and in Blank Spaces Magazine. She was long-listed for the CBC Non-Fiction Prize in 2020 and 2023.
