Can your city win this international nature challenge?
The City Nature Challenge began as an eight-day challenge encouraging locals to experience urban biodiversity. At first, it was a regional competition between Los Angeles and San Francisco. In 2018, it became an international challenge, with cities around the world and across Canada including Richmond, Calgary and Halifax set to compete this year.
The event is pretty simple: from April 26th to 29th, take photos of wild flowers, plants and animals in your area. From April 30th to May 5th, identify what you found. Then, share your discoveries through the iNaturalist app.
Don’t know what species you’ve snapped a photo of? Users, including scientists from around the world, are there to help.
