Sounds like something you’d order at Starbucks: “Backside triple cork 1440.” In fact, it’s a snowboard trick—arguably the snowboard trick. Four complete revolutions, with some other crazy stuff thrown in. When Mark McMorris pulled it off this spring in Colorado, it marked the first time any rider had landed a vaunted “quad.” The 1440 went viral online practically before McMorris took off his boots, and other riders were soon trying to match it. So will the trick be called The McMorris? “It’s kinda looked down on to name a trick after yourself,” he says. “I don’t want to do that. I just want it to be a trick people remember I did.”
