Hang Gliding
Found in the Calentura National Park, Cerro Celentura rises to more than 1,200 metres. It receives a continuous strong draft up one of the gorges that will set you soaring over the lush rainforest.
Kiteboarding & Windsurfing
Kiteboarders and windsurfers have discovered the Bay. Annual pilgrimages occur each spring due to reliable trade winds that blow across the 21-km wide Bay providing consistent afternoon swells in the warm Caribbean waters.
Hiking
Hiking opportunities and new discoveries await in the 2,133-metre mountain range. Still in its infancy, most hiking takes place in virgin or first cut rainforest rising into the clouds, with breathtaking views of Trujillo Bay. Experience wild orchids, monkey troops, macaws, toucans, iguanas and boas as well as numerous waterfalls and natural swimming holes. Mayans have been confirmed as far back as 1200 BC in some of the caves found here.
Snorkeling
In the mornings when the Bay is at it’s calmest, snorkeling is the order of the day. Cayo Blanco and the Banco de Estrellas Marinas (Sea Star Bank) offer up a healthy and stunning coral reef that teems with colourful fish, starfish, crab and turtles.
