Happy Camper & Florida Everglades: Help Be a Part of “The Culture of Wilderness Travel”
This is going to be an amazing mid-winter getaway. A five-day guided canoe trip in the Florida Everglades!
I jumped at the chance when Explore Magazine and Flight Centre asked if I would be interested in hosting a paddling trip in Florida’s 10,000 Islands of Everglades National Park and Wilderness Waterway. Who wouldn’t?
It’s a well-organized event, including hotel accommodations before the trip, shuttle service to the park and a fully outfitted and guided paddle in the Everglades. This is a remote place I’ve never experienced but have always wanted to.
It’s also a wilderness setting I’ve always wanted to include in a video series — which is exactly what I’m going to do.
It will be a great adventure in an incredible place. That’s a given. But there’s more to the trip than that. For a few years now I’ve had a desire to document, on film, the various forms of wilderness travel. In Canada alone there are expedition techniques from the East Coast to the West. Scotland, England, Ireland and Wales have a totally separate forms. So does South Korea. Different areas of the United States also have their own unique ways to travel in wild areas.
I want to capture that on film, and I’d love you to help. If it all works out, this will be the first — sharing the scenic wonder found in wilderness areas, as well as the passion we all have roaming about out there.
I’d be so honoured to have you join me in Florida and help create the first chapter of “The Culture of Wilderness Travel.”
