Three Reasons to Experience Jasper in January
If you’re looking for a good reason to stave off the urge to hibernate (and maybe even cross off a few of those New Year’s resolutions) this January, Jasper has three: Adventures, Appetites and Arts.
These are the three themed weekends of Jasper in January 2016, running from January 14 to 31, and they’ll be packed with enough deals, events and activities to turn even the biggest cold-weather humbug into a winter champion.
Adventures, January 14 to 17
From novice to extreme, it doesn’t matter what your adventure level is—there’s something for every explorer during Jasper in January’s Adventures weekend. Venture Beyond with 25% off your adult day lift pass from the 16 to 31 at Marmot Basin—home of the highest base elevation in the Canadian Rockies. Your whole family will be able to experience a full day of winter activities during Winterstruck on Saturday the 16. Dogsledding, fat biking, snowshoeing and so much more, this signature event has something for everyone!
Appetites, January 21 to 24
This weekend is the perfect time to explore Jasper’s culinary scene and savour local flavours. From Food-A-Palooza, featuring small plate and beverage pairings at participating restaurants, to the Jasper Dine Around, an incredible six-course Spanish tapas dinner, many of Jasper’s local restaurants will be pulling out the stops. And if you’re looking for an adult beverage or two to help keep you warm, be sure to check out Wine in Winter, a wine and food festival with tastes from around the world, skillfully created by the chefs at Mountain Park Lodges.
Arts, January 28 to 31
Express yourself and enjoy a weekend full of winter arts, music, and laughter. Take in a unique evening of arts and ice carving at Arts On Ice on Friday the 29 or let laughter keep you warm as the world’s largest and most renowned comedy brand, Just For Laughs presents Jeremy Hotz, who will be performing in Jasper for the first time ever on his new cross-Canada tour. Maybe you need to relax and unwind after a chaotic holiday season? Rejuvenate your body and your spirit at the Lolë Wellness Weekend with other like-minded kindred spirits. And don’t forget about Jasper’s infamous ATCO Street Party on the 30!
Parks Canada will also be offering a wide variety of free interpretive programs running throughout the month. Endorsed by former Olympic Freestyle mogul skier, Jennifer Heil, Jasper in January is the best way to get into winter! For more information, visit www.jasperinjanuary.travel.
