In the Midst of Adventure
By Daniel Castro
An adventure can be an attempt to escape. To escape the world overwhelmed with noise, screens, cement. It’s a moment of decision to step outside a state of comfort, toward a source of revelation. To explore an alternative that quiets the future and crescendos the present.
It often begins with a moment of hesitation. It’s a time of contemplation, where the excitement of discovery is tempered by warnings, the voices of reason. Should one answer the call for adventure?

Amid the endless spectacles of Nature, the journey begins. On adventure, reality shifts to the resistance of the ground, the grandeur of landscapes and abandoning oneself to the elements.
the tree, the bridge
the river, the danger
Challenges, triumphs and moments of awe mark the path, the stretch and space enclosing the wanderer from both ahead and behind.
At last, the adventure concludes. A summit’s reached, a new sight’s unlocked, a kinship with a landscape’s deepened. Yet, the journey’s end is hardly the goal. Returning from an encounter with the wilderness sparks a moment of reflection: to remember the reasons why you communed with Nature.

peace.
Whether the landscape is a forest, a mountain or a river, an adventure is a poetic act: the pursuit of a sweet encounter with a critter, the peace and silence, the certainty and joy of simply following a trail. A simple sense of serenity fuelled by, rather than against, our surroundings. Every adventure is a story of transformation and realization. It begins with a decision, continues with determination and ends with a deeper understanding of oneself and the world. Everyone has the potential to be an adventurer; it just takes courage to answer the call.
