Pinock Smith Workshop at Canadian Outdoor Equipment this weekend – don’t miss out

Great news! Canadian Outdoor Equipment store in Mississauga, Ontario is offering a second date for their bushcraft skills workshop. I only know of Pinock Smith from paddling the birchbark canoe he built for Bushcraft expert Ray Mears while helping with the film “Northern Wilderness” for BBC. It was amazing. Check out this workshop. You won’t be disappointed.

Some of you may recognize Pinock from a couple of Ray Mears programs he appeared in. He is from the Algonquin First Nation, and has astounding knowledge of traditional skills.

Pinock shared his birch bark canoe building skills with Ray Mears in Bushcraft Survival 2, and more recently showed Ray how a pair of snowshoes are made in the Northern Wilderness series. Pinock spends most of his time sharing his skills with all who are willing to learn. He has been asked on more than one occasion to visit other First Nations communities and re-introduce these invaluable traditions.

We are very pleased to be able to bring Pinock to Port Credit for this one day workshop that will focus on the skills and tools needed to work with materials like Birch Bark, Ash, Cedar, Spruce Root, Willow, Pitch and Rawhide.

This full day workshop will be held SATURDAY, JANUARY 15th, 2011 at the Port Credit Legion , will run 8 hrs, and includes a hot lunch, coffee, tea, and snacks, as well as your choice of a copy of Ray Mears’ Bushcraft or Northern Wilderness book, which you can get Pinock to autograph!
