Red Bull Divide and Conquer

Ready to test your body? Sign up for this extreme endurance relay race
If you’re looking for a serious outdoor challenge this summer, look no further than Red Bull Divide and Conquer. This extreme endurance relay race will take place on June 16th, 2012, and combines mountain running, mountain biking and whitewater kayaking, and will take competitors over 70 km of beautiful but punishing terrain on Vancouver’s North Shore.
The race begins with the mountain run—almost 6,000 feet of climbing—starting at The Lions and ending at the top of the Grouse mountain ski area. The mountain biking portion is a 5 km section of fireroad, starting from a single track on Mount Fromme and continuing along the Baden Powell trail. Kayakers will take on a 10 km leg of the beautiful Capilano River and end with a stretch of ocean paddling, crossing the finish line in Ambleside Park.
The race is open to teams of three, with one competitor assigned to each leg, and the first kayaker to cross the finish line will claim victory for their team. The estimated race time is 5-7 hours.
Registration is open until May 15, 2012 or until all 100 team spots are filled. Men, women or mixed teams welcome. Single competitors can also find teammates using the team finder.
The race will be run rain or shine. Competitors must be 19 years of age or older, and fee for entry is $275.
