Review: Fishing for outdoor apparel
Clothing that fits the needs of hikers and anglers
Long the clothing and equipment brand of choice for fly fishermen, Redington is taking tentative steps into the wider world of outdoor sportswear. There’s plenty of crossover between the needs of anglers and hikers, so it’s no surprise we’re loving their stuff.
The Lost River Tee ($39) fits loose and breezy, wicks moisture quickly and looks as casual as any cotton T-shirt. We’ve worn it running, hiking and to work out, and have never felt any chafing or irritation.
Equally awesome is the Cascade Hoody ($72), which manages to go from the trail to the pub while looking good the whole time. The sleeves are long, with thumb holes to keep them from bunching when layering, or just to cover your hands in chilly weather. The generous hood hides our bedhead on morning dog walks, and a zip pocket on the shoulder provides easy access to keys, I.D., or a phone. The Cascade is made from a twill-like polyester, so it’s stretchy, quick-drying and wicks moisture, too.
You’ll probably see Redington apparel in your favourite outdoors shops in the next little while, but why not get ahead of the game? Look up your nearest fishing store and go get it.
