The new Leave No Trace project with Subaru will help you adopt the Seven Principles, educate people and protect natural spaces all at once.

Although a record number of Canadians are venturing outdoors—a positive trend for mental and physical wellbeing—there is also an increase in the impact left on the environment. Fortunately, there’s a fresh opportunity for Canadians to contribute to the preservation of natural spaces.

By taking the new Leave No Trace Pledge, you agree to learn about the Seven Principles of Leave No Trace and adopt them for every outdoor adventure that you embark on. But there’s an additional benefit—for every adventurer that takes this pledge and shares their achievement on social media, Subaru Canada will plant a tree in the spring of 2024.^{Jack Ryan}

Prior to 2020, outdoor recreation was on the rise nationwide and experienced a substantial surge during the COVID-19 pandemic. Research shows that since 2019, 66 per cent of Canadians increased their park trips. This has implications for both positive and negative effects on the natural spaces being used.

Adopting and educating others about the Leave No Trace guidelines allows for natural spaces to be used responsibly, avoiding impacts like waste, trail damage, wildlife disturbance and more.^{Scott Chapman}
