Don’t know what to get that special someone this Christmas? Why not give them a hands-on outdoorsy workshop?

The Canadian Canoe Museum has just released their workshop schedule for 2018 and it’s amazing. Imagine weaving traditional snowshoes, building a freight toboggan, sewing your own anorak, carving your own paddle or whittling a canoe pole…

These one- or two-day workshops teach you traditional skills—with the bonus of leaving with the finished product. Check out their list and see which one would make a perfect Christmas gift: https://www.canoemuseum.ca/adult-workshop-lineup/.

Another gift idea is my one-day Happy Camper Winter Camping Workshops being held throughout January and February. It a perfect way to introduce someone to cold- and hot-tenting or upgrade their winter camping skills.

I’m partnering up with an outfitter in the Kawarthas (just south of Algonquin)—The Land Canadian Adventures—to go over skills such as fire-lighting, map and compass skills, tree identification, how to pack your toboggan, making a delicious meal, animal tracking, how to stay warm, sleeping system tips and much more.
