The Happy Camper: New Book Out, A Paddler’s Guide to Killarney and the French River, 2nd Edition

My paddling guidebooks have been flying off the shelves the last couple of years. (Thanks Covid.) I released my 4th edition of A Paddlers Guide to Algonquin last year, a 2nd edition of the Complete Guide to Winter Camping, I’m presently working on my third edition of Ontario’s Top Canoe Routes, and the 2nd edition of A Paddler’s Guide to Killarney and the French River just hit the bookstores.

Ontario’s Killarney Provincial Park is a paradise of rugged, windswept islands and turquoise lakes beneath white quartzite mountains. Nearby French River is a historic waterway once used by explorers and voyageurs, from the Ottawa River to Lake Huron. Together, there’s enough paddling routes to last you a lifetime.
For the 2nd edition, I added more paddling routes and hiking trails and updated all the information and maps. I included additional routes along the north and west section of Killarney, and one straight across it. I added all the paddle routes and hiking trails in the newly formed First Nations Park (Grondine) and I added a loop around the Upper French River’s Okikendawt Island and the bays and inlets close to Lake Nippissing.

Within these pages, readers will discover week-long paddles in Killarney’s tranquil interior and along the Georgian Bay shoreline, weekend trips down remote stretches of the French River and day hikes to breathtaking vistas. A Paddler’s Guide to Killarney and the French River will inspire readers to pick up their paddles and experience one of the most picturesque natural spaces Ontario has to offer.
