The Happy Camper: Northern Scavenger’s New Three Hour (YouTube) Film Is EPIC!
Where have all the outdoor YouTubers gone? Have you noticed lately that a bunch of them are giving up their channels and seeking other lifestyles? They’ve either become burnt out prancing around the wilderness trying to get multiple camera angles or they simply didn’t make the millions of dollars in monetization they thought they would.
Have you also noticed, however, that the few that kept up their passion of filming and sharing their time outdoors are doing it bigger than ever before? Rather than capture quick clips of camping tips and tricks, they’re creating epic films lasting two to three hours long!

Kevin Wild’s epic “42-Day / 650km Solo Journey Across the Labrador Wilderness” is a whopping seven hours and 47 minutes long! That’s almost eight hours of footage. That’s insane!
Or is it?
Is this new trend working for the big outdoor YouTube celebs like the Budnicks, Bairds and Barbours? Well, according to Noah Booth, it definitely is. He just released an epic three hour film on his channel, Northern Scavengers—”The Great Land 20 Days in Canada’s Forgotten Wilderness.” It’s getting massive attention.
I interviewed Noah for one of my Whisky Fireside Chats on the KCHappyCamper YouTube channel. We chatted about his three week/500 kilometre canoe loop through Nunavik, Quebec, up the De Troyes and Claire Rivers and then down the mystical Nastapoka River to Hudson Bay. He and his three canoe buddies—Tristan, Jan and Sam—portaged through lush taiga, over stunted mountain tops and around Amazon-like waterfalls. The goal was to circumnavigate Tursujuq, Quebec’s largest national park, catch trophy brook trouts and hopefully catch a glimpse of the rare freshwater seal known as the “unicorn of the north.”
I have the attention span of a rabbit but I’ve got to say I watched Noah’s film from beginning to end, without even having a pee break. It’s truly a masterpiece!
