The Happy Camper: Judging Camp Hacks
I sent four of the first contestants home on the latest webisode of Woods Canada’s Greatest Explorer.
It was a little unsettling. I was the “expert” judge for episode three—Best Camp Hacks. Marks were given for uniqueness, creativity and practicality. It wasn’t an easy task. “Camp Hack” is so loosely defined, from fire starters to a coffee-can toilet roll dispenser.
The Woods gang’s hacks ranged from the common camp shower to an assortment of soda-can camp stoves. There were a handful that surprised me, where the contestant thought outside the box. Some were simple—too simple. And some were put together like a low-grade student essay that was scribbled together an hour before it was due.
Not all the hacks were placed in the final edit. Hopefully they’ll have a blooper reel up soon. For now, have a look at the camp hack #WoodsExplorer webisode. See who got eliminated and let me know if you agree with my choices. (Head to www.WoodsExplorer.ca for details.)
