This Summer, Discover Canada with the Canada Strong Pass
On June 16, the federal government announced the new Canada Strong Pass, inviting everyone—Canadian residents and visitors—to explore the nation for free or with discounted access to some of the country’s most iconic destinations.
From June 20 to September 2, no physical ticket, registration or purchase is needed. Simply show up at participating Parks Canada sites, national museums, galleries, VIA Rail services and select provincial or territorial cultural venues to enjoy what they have to offer. This also includes front-country, backcountry and RV camping areas.

The Department of Canadian Heritage said the Canada Strong Pass is about making it easier for everyone—especially youth and families—to explore Canada and celebrate what makes this country extraordinary. For more information, click here.
What’s included?
- Parks Canada: Free entry to national parks, historic sites and marine conservation areas, plus a 25 per cent discount on camping fees. Passes purchased for June to August are automatically extended an extra three months
- Museums and Galleries: Free admission for children (17 and under) and 50 per cent off for young adults (18–24) at national museums and the Plains of Abraham Museum, with the same offer at select provincial/territorial venues
- VIA Rail: Children travel free when accompanied by an adult; young adults get a 25 per cent fare discount on Economy and Escape tickets—simply use promo codes “CANADAFAM” (ages 17 and under) and “CANADA1824” (ages 18–24)
No one is excluded. The Canada Strong Pass is open to citizens, permanent residents, temporary residents and tourists alike. According to Minister of Canadian Identity and Culture Steven Guilbeault, the initiative aims to strengthen Canadian unity by making cultural and natural experiences more accessible. VIA Rail’s participation—highlighted by Minister of Transport and Internal Trade Chrystia Freeland—reinforces how transportation connects communities coast to coast.
