When to Reserve Your Parks Canada Campsite for 2024
Find out when to book your Parks Canada campsites for the 2024 camping season in the Canadian provinces and territories.
Among towering mountains, pristine lakes and dense forests, campers find solace under starlit skies. Whether seeking the thrill of backcountry adventures or the tranquillity of sleeping beachside, the country’s diverse national parks offer an array of experiences for every camper. Given the high demand for camping during the summer, securing reservations for campsites is mandatory for many of the country’s national parks. Book as soon as reservations open to avoid disappointment.
Yukon

From May 17 to September 21, pitch your tent at one of the 38 campsites at Kathleen Lake Campground. Though un-serviced, each site provides essential amenities like a potable water tap and outhouses. While the campsites operate on a first-come, first-served basis, it’s recommended to make reservations for the five oTENTik sites at the campground, which offer additional comforts including a picnic table, a wood-burning stove and two queen-sized mattresses along with one double mattress.

Canada’s largest national park that straddles the border between northeastern Alberta and southern Northwest Territories offers an unparalleled camping experience. From May 17 to September 29, Pine Lake Campground provides 20 non-electrical sites on a first-come, first-served basis, with a suite of amenities like a cook shelter, playground and a sandy beach. Groups of at least eight can secure a spot at Kettle Point Group Camp, while those seeking seclusion can reserve the Patrol Cabin or Aurora Cottage—two remote cabins overlooking Pine Lake.

British Columbia
Pacific Rim National Park Reserve
This park along the western shores of Vancouver Island is divided into three distinct regions: the Long Beach Unit, the Broken Group Islands and the West Coast Trail Unit. Green Point Campground is the park’s sole front-country option and offers 94 drive-in sites equipped with flush toilets, showers and fire pits. For a serene escape, venture to the Broken Islands. Campsites on seven islands are accessible exclusively by paddlers and require reservations. Those embarking on a multi-day backcountry hike along the West Coast Trail will find designated campsites along the route.

Favoured for its views of Cathedral Mountain, it offers 44 reservable and 44 first-come, first-served sites, providing convenient access to the Village of Field, the Spiral Tunnels National Historic Site and Takakkaw Falls.

Riding Mountain National Park

Cyprus Lake Campground is the park’s only front-country campground, offering 232 un-serviced drive-in sites across the Tamaracks, Birches and Poplars sections. Each site features a picnic table, firepit with grill and convenient access to Cyprus Lake. Backcountry enthusiasts can opt for Stormhaven and High Dump. Whether front or backcountry camping, reservations are required from May to October.

These cozy accommodations come equipped with beds and mattresses for six, a table and chairs, a cellphone charging station and a charcoal barbeque.

The newest campground, Mkwesaqtuk/Cap-Rouge, offers options for traditional campsites or cozy oTENTik accommodations.
