Why you should take your mom to Palmer Fest

Here’s the lastest on Palmerfest – to be held on Mother’s Day:

Yes we know our new paddling festival is on Mother’s Day weekend, but what could be better for your mom (or mother of your children) than a paddling weekend away with you? Here’s what she gets:

Two days of beginner to advanced sea kayak and canoe clinics with Canada’s best instructors (because you want her well taken care of) Two nights camping (or put her up in a fine local B&B) Saturday night dinner (that you don’t have to cook) Evening showing of the Reel Paddling Film Festival (think dinner and a movie) Sunday morning breakfast (you could take it to her in bed-or at least in her tent) AND we just decided that all moms will also receive a free 1-year digital edition subscription to CANOEROOTS or ADVENTURE KAYAK magazines (that you can read too) This Mother’s Day take your mom paddling, she’s worth it!

But hurry registration for CANOE 09 & NaSKS REGISTRATION CLOSES Sunday May 3rd, At Midnight – Only 3 days left!!! Register today at www.palmerfest.com.

PS, perhaps don’t tell her, and make it a surprise!

More event details

The eight annual Palmer Fest is a laid-back social, instructional and fun two-weekend event kicking off with the National Sea Kayak Symposium (NaSKS) and CANOE 09 – The Canadian Canoe Symposium on May 8-10, followed by the classic Whitewater Weekend including the Single Blade Symposium 6 on Victoria Day Weekend. Both weekends offer a wide variety of beginner to advanced women’s-only paddling clinics.

Palmer Fest is held at the Paddler Co-op boathouse and campground on the Madawaska River in beautiful Palmer Rapids Canada’s most beginner-friendly class I-III section of whitewater. The Madawaska River also offers plenty of protected lakewater paddling opportunities for introductory sea kayaking and lakewater and classic solo canoe clinics. Plus we can offer intermediate and advanced sea kayak skills clinics using the deep river features as ocean features, such as surfing, tides, currents and paddling in boils.

Arrive and camp on the Friday nights. Saturdays and Sundays will be the canoe and kayak demos and on-water clinics-two per day. The clinics run from 10am to 12pm and then again from 2pm to 4pm. You select all your clinics in advance when you register. We are very proud that Palmer Fest is a family friendly event. In addition to our kids paddling clinics (age 7 and up) we provide daycare so that parents can escape to the water for the action.
