You Need Baffin’s New Terrain Collection for Multi-Season Hiking

There’s a moment on every hike, somewhere between the crunch of gravel and the soft crush of forest soil under your feet, when you realize your boots are doing more than keeping your feet clean—they’re carrying you forward, keeping the pace and helping you experience adventure.

Baffin’s new Terrain Collection launched the BRUCE MID for men and ELORA MID for women, built for that moment and every demanding step that follows. Designed for adventurers who seek durability and refined comfort, this collection marks Baffin’s entry into the multi-season hiking category, a new chapter in the brand’s long legacy of outdoor innovation.

This isn’t a line that was created up in a lab and pushed into the market. It was born from the dirt, rock and ice of real-world testing across three continents and five different expeditions. The Terrain Collection’s story begins in 2023 with The End-to-End Project: Bruce Trail Adventure, a trek along Canada’s oldest and longest-marked footpath. Early prototypes were put through relentless terrain tests—wet roots, crumbling escarpments and the unpredictable shifts of Ontario weather. From there, the boots journeyed across the plateaus of Iceland, the ridges of Africa and the Appalachian Trail’s winding forests. In June 2025, they faced their final trials in Alaska’s wilderness, where every element tested the sole and seams of the shoe. The result? A collection that’s Real-World Tested™ and refined by experience.

The design of the Terrain Collection speaks to both craftsmanship and the attention to detail of the brand. Each boot features a mid-height upper, blending durable leather with flexible nylon. The comfort-padded top collar cradles the ankle without constriction while a speed-lace front with a new heel-secure locking system gives a tailored fit that stays, no matter how steep you climb. A rear pull loop adds ease to the process, letting you slip in and out quickly.

On the inside, Baffin’s Fixed-Fit multi-layer inner boot system transforms comfort into endurance. The Thermawick™ lining draws moisture away from the skin, keeping your foot dry through long, sweaty treks and shifting weather. A waterproof breathable membrane shields against rain while the B-Tek™ Foam cushions each step for lasting comfort. It’s a thoughtful layering system designed for all-season adaptability.

Underfoot, the Terrain Collection reveals true power. A premium rubber outsole with multi-directional, self-cleaning lugs provides grip that bites into mud, snow and stone alike. Embedded is IceBite® technology, offering superior traction on slick or icy surfaces—crucial for those shoulder-season hikes when conditions shift in seconds. A TPU shank adds torsional stability, reducing foot fatigue on uneven ground while the PU midsole offers lightweight cushioning and thermal protection. Even the TPU external heel counter has been engineered with intent—it adds structure, stability and a snowshoe ledge for winter compatibility.

Sustainability, too, is woven into the shoe. Low-impact B-Tek™ Eco materials reflect Baffin’s commitment to reducing its environmental footprint while preserving the performance standards that define the brand.

But what really sets the Terrain Collection apart is how it feels to wear them. The BRUCE MID and ELORA MID aren’t simple hiking shoes, they’re travel companions for those who look for adventure in every season, across every trail and into every unknown. These boots are designed for explorers who know that the best journeys begin the moment you step off the beaten path.
