Katharine Fletcher

Katharine is happiest in the wild while horseback riding, hiking, paddling, snowshoeing, skiing or birdwatching in Canada’s, Australia’s or other countries’ backcountry. Her books include three award-winning guides to Canada’s National Capital Region plus Quebec Off the Beaten Path co-authored with her husband, photographer Eric Fletcher. She is an active member of the Portland (Australia) and also Macnamara (Ottawa Valley) Field Naturalist Club and leads hikes in Gatineau Park. She lives at Spiritwood, her 100-acre farm backing into Gatineau Park, where her closest neighbours are black bear, bobcat and coy-wolves. This photo shows her canoeing with Eric at Lac Vert on the Rivière Noire -- one of Quebec’s “Triple Play” wild rivers. She is also a visual artist: Katharine invites you to like her artist’s page: facebook.com/KatharineFletcherArtist/ and to browse her books at katharinefletcher.com
