10 of the Best Places to Hang your Hammock across Canada
Picture this: You’re lazing in a hammock on the summit of a mountain after a grueling climb with an unobstructed view.
Next, you’re mere metres from the ocean, listening to the waves gently lap against the sand.
Or maybe, you’re kicking back and cuddling up, strung between two trees and surrounded by a (seemingly) endless snowy winter.
#HammockLife has become nearly as prominent on social media as #VanLife, and we’re not complaining. We love a good viewpoint, so we’ve compiled some of the most stunning, scenic places to hang your hammock across the country.

1. Joffre Lakes
British Columbia
“Joffre is a beautiful hike with stellar views from all three of its lakes. For hammock hiking; however, the uppermost lake is best for taking in the scenic views of the glacier. The pure blue and turquoise water along with the lush greenery of the forest makes this a very desirable hike!”

3. Major’s Hill Park
Ontario
“Rest in the shade of the Fairmont Chateau Laurier only steps away from the Tavern On The Hill and the bustling ByWard Market. Swing in the breeze blowing in off the Ottawa River at Major’s Hill Park. This five-acre expanse features beds of tulips in the spring during Ottawa’s famous Tulip Festival. You can string up your hammock in the wide-open lawns for July 1st fireworks and year-round views of the Rideau Canal and Parliament Hill.”

4. Halifax
Nova Scotia
“At the pier in Halifax, they’ve already done the dirty work for you. A line-up of neon-orange net hammocks are tied above the dock, offering passers-by comfy beds with ocean-views to kick their feet up and rest (or read a good book).”

5. Dutch Creek
Alberta
Camp, fish and hike in this remote corner of Alberta, south of Calgary and west of Lethbridge. Laze beneath pine and spruce trees in your hammock with river views.

7. Pierce Lake
British Columbia
“Although not far from the city, Pierce Lake is the perfect place to immerse yourself in the beauty of the British Columbian mountains. Just past Chilliwack, this lake is not only a great place to camp, but from here you can summit several peaks including Mount McFarlane. It is also the perfect place to set up a hammock, relax and just take it all in.”

8. Whiteshell Provincial Park
Manitoba
“Bear Lake is an excellent trail that can be accessed year-round. Personally, I believe it’s best used with a pair of snowshoes in the winter, as it can be very wet during the other seasons. The trail-end is equipped with a fire pit and offers a lovely view of Bear Lake, making it a perfect spot to hang a hammock and enjoy the beauty that surrounds you!”

9. Saint-Donat
Quebec
With two massive lakes to choose from, Saint-Donat draws adventurers to its scenic spot in the Laurentians. After a day of hiking, horse-back riding or sailing, string up a hammock and relax lakeside.

10. Barnet Marine Park
British Columbia
The old pier in Barnet Marine Park along the Burrard Inlet in Burnaby features staggered wooden poles that happen to be just the right distance apart to hang your hammock. Listen to the sound of the waves lapping against the shore, birds singing overhead and picnickers laughing freely. Just watch the tide—it comes in quick and could leave you scrambling in the water.
