It was only natural that a partnership between Devold of Norway and Lenzing led to an ISPO Sustainability award in the production of their Standal Merino Tee Zip-Neck.

Working in collaboration for close to 30 years, Devold and Lenzing are leading the way in their innovative, eco-friendly production of quality outdoor apparel in areas where synthetics have previously triumphed.

Their sustainability win marks a step forward in the effort to introduce garments made with 100 per cent natural fibres to the world of outdoor gear production.

The Standal Merino Tee is made out of 70 per cent merino wool and 30 per cent TENCEL™, boasting odour-resistant features, it’s the ideal bike jersey for cycling, mountain biking and e-biking.

“Devold and Lenzing believe you can have killer outdoor gear without trashing the planet. It’s a down-to-earth approach to making stuff that works and feels good,” Devold said in a press release.

Devold of Norway has been in the game of creating sustainable merino wool apparel for outdoor adventurers since 1853. Committed to taking action, Devold proudly stands behind their 100 per cent traceable garments with over 60 per cent traceable back to the very farm the wool came from.

“Sustainability is not a trend. For us, it’s a matter of course. It’s the very foundation on which Devold rests,” says the Devold website.

Lenzing is just as committed to taking environmental action seriously, using cotton textile waste and sustainably-sourced wood to produce their leading brand: TENCEL™ fibres. Although comfort and performance are never sacrificed in the process. TENCEL™ fibres are naturally soft, giving a smooth feel to any garment while staying dry in the midst of physical activity through moisture-control features.

“We belong in the mountains and on trails, but let’s face it—much of our outdoor gear is just plastic, plastic, and more plastic,” said Devold designer Christine Haraldstad-Sindum in a press release.

Banding together to forge a new path towards the production of degradable, eco-friendly outdoor apparel, Devold and Lenzing are simply a natural fit.
